Scholarship Recipient 2002 - Greg Fish

“ I was taking Pre College Math II (as a sophomore), which was geometry. I’ve always done
well in math, so my teacher asked if I could possibly help some of the other students in my
class. I did this for a few weeks and realized how rewarding it felt when other kids were
understanding the problems because of my assistance….In the fall of 1999 I became a tutor at
the math lab at my school.  I have continued to work at the math lab as of this date. It not
only makes me feel good to know that my skills are also helping others but it hones my
ability to be more successful in this field.  I’m very interested in the world of 3D animation
and graphic design. Because of this I feel that my skills in advanced mathematics will be
extremely valuable. And helping others has allowed me to see how different people work out
problems, how many different ways people think. This can only make me more creative”.

at Ygnacio Valley High School. He is a member of the California Junior Scholarship
Federation. Greg volunteers his time helping others in the after school math tutoring
program. He has earned an academic letter”.
